About the Trust

In Victoria, all public cemeteries and crematoria are situated on Crown land and managed by either Class A or Class B Public Cemetery Trusts. Wodonga Cemetery Trust is currently classified as a Class B Trust.

Cemetery trusts are established and trust members are appointed under the Cemeteries and  Crematoria Act 2003 by the Governor–in–Council.  The Victorian Cemeteries and Crematoria   Sector relies heavily on the large volunteer base drawn from the local community who perform the role of Trust Members.

Trust Members are responsible for the governance, financial accountability and maintenance of the Wodonga Cemetery. The Wodonga Cemetery, and Trust, is overseen by the Victorian Department of Health.

The Trust currently employs a part-time secretary who administers the day-to-day operations of the cemetery and has separate contracts in place for the cemetery maintenance programs and grave-digging services.

Anyone interested in serving on the Wodonga Cemetery Trust is encouraged to contact either the Trust office or a current serving Trust Member. Further information on becoming a Cemetery Trust Member can be found at :
